Five of Deputy President William Ruto’s drivers have been removed from his team. The drivers are also police officers who have undergone extensive training.
DP Ruto’s spokesperson, Emmanuel Talam, claimed today that those who have been withdrawn are police personnel assigned to the transport team.
“Five qualified police officers who are part of the driving squad have been removed.
He stated that three of the recalled drivers had already been ordered to return to work by Monday.
This comes just a day after policemen from the General Service Unit (GSU) were evacuated from Ruto’s official house in Karen and replaced by officers from the Administration Police (AP).
According to Fichuzi news, the cops arrived in two vehicles at DP’s Karen house, conducted a meeting with their GSU colleagues, and then went to his Hardy home and did the same.
The DP demanded an explanation from Inspector General (IG) of Police Hillary Mutyambai as to why the GSU
officers were removed.
A senior police inspector in charge of security at the DP’s Karen residence was summoned and ordered to tell the security personnel that they were required to vacate the residence by Thursday 2 p.m., according to Talam’s statement about the deployment and redeployment of the police in the home.
