Thika police are looking for a guy who stabbed to death a 19-year-old student in what appears to be a tale of love gone wrong.
At approximately 8 p.m. on Monday, Celestine Muthengei, a second-year community development student in Thika, was reportedly assaulted in her hostel room. The assailant escaped and is still on the loose.
According to a police report obtained by the Star, she was stabbed in the chest, back, head, and limbs and died as a result of her injuries at Thika Level 5 Hospital.
Celestine’s roommates, who spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of being attacked by the mystery lover, claimed he came into their room after they had just finished eating dinner.
“When he entered the room, he inquired casually about Celestine’s whereabouts. He was so pleasant that no one could believe he was acting in bad faith. “We assumed he was a student searching for notes,” one of the housemates explained.
“Celestine was sat at the edge of one of the mattresses near the entrance charging her phone; she didn’t recognize the man because he wore a cap and a facemask; she stood and identified herself as the one he was searching for,” she said.
‘ulidhani sitakupata,’ the guy said. (You believed I wouldn’t find you.) Unani-cheat You’re being unfaithful to me)’, he pulled a knife from his coat pocket and began slashing her mercilessly.”
The other four girls in the room began crying and begging for assistance when they realized things had become worse, but no one answered since the man had already shut the door from inside.
One pupil stated, “He must be punished and imprisoned for the horrible conduct.”
